Printer Driver Development
Intelligraphics' expertise in printer driver development and digital imaging driver development was initially derived from our company's vast experience in display drivers. At one time, the majority of function calls and developer documentation for printers and display devices were virtually identical. As the technologies have matured, Intelligraphics has broadened its expertise to include a wide variety of printing, scanning and digital imaging devices.
Printer Driver Development

Intelligraphics' printer driver development team has provided firmware, printer drivers and application software to support a wide variety of printer hardware systems. Our engineers have developed printer drivers and firmware for laser, dot matrix, ink-jet, black and white, and color printing devices as well as for large format printers and thermal wax transfer printers. Intelligraphics' staff has experience in printer driver development in virtually all PC operating systems including all versions of Microsoft Windows, Linux/UNIX, and MacOS. Our development team can also provide driver support in many related technologies including USB, 1394, TWAIN, and WIA printer drivers.
Microsoft Windows
Intelligraphics is a world industry leader in printer driver development for the Microsoft Windows platform. Our engineers are recognized industry experts in Windows 2000, 9x, 3.1, NT 4.0 and NT 3.51 and are at the forefront of development for the newly released Millennium (ME) and upcoming Whistler operating systems.
Linux/UNIX
The demand for Linux has driven the need for printer Linux support. As a result, many manufactures now require device driver development to support hardware for both consumer and professional level digital imaging devices. Intelligraphics team of senior engineers can develop reliable, high performance Linux drivers for a variety of printer hardware technologies.
Mac Platform
As the Macintosh is reinventing itself, many hardware manufacturers are finding an increasingly greater demand for support of their devices on the Mac OS. Intelligraphics is dedicated to meeting our customers' need for reliable and high performance printer drivers for the Mac OS.
RTOS
Our development team has created custom device drivers, APIs, protocols, and other system level software development services for numerous platforms. Intelligraphics' experience has given us a hands-on understanding of several PC, workstation, and real-time operating systems. Some of the operating systems for which we can provide development include:
- VxWorks
- pSOS+
- Solaris
- Embedded Linux
- Embedded NT
- Nucleus
- Windows CE
- Lynx
- Proprietary RTOS
Intelligraphics has extensive experience working with proprietary operating systems. In fact, our developers have created complete real-time operating systems for clients. Our broad experience with a wide variety of operating systems allows Intelligraphics a frame of reference to more easily learn proprietary operating systems.
Digital Imaging Driver Development
Scanners
Intelligraphics has experience in driver development to support scanning devices. Some of the projects our team has completed include drivers, firmware and user control interfaces for multi-line scanning devices. Our team has experience with developing driver support for USB scanning devices and the creation of system level components for image capture and conversion.
Digital Cameras
Intelligraphics can provide IEEE 1394/Firewire drivers to support digital cameras and other image acquisition devices including medical imaging. Intelligraphics has experience developing and modifying software support for devices on the Windows platform. Some projects included digital cameras and motor controllers for the Windows 2000 operating system, and our development team can provide support for many other projects as 1394-related devices emerge in the marketplace.
Medical Imaging Devices
Intelligraphics' experience in development for medical imaging devices stems from our experience with graphics device drivers. With the high resolution and special requirements of medical imaging devices, Intelligraphics has helped manufacturers implement the functionality that they require. Intelligraphics' printer and digital imaging team has experience with a wide variety of imaging and printing devices including those requiring Dicom compliancy. We have also developed drivers to support scanning devices including ultrasound, MRI, CT and digital X-ray as well as touch screen and input hardware.
Related Development Expertise
Intelligraphics' large team of engineers are recognized industry veterans and bring years of experience into every project. Our team continues to incorporate its vast knowledge and experience as hardware and software technologies evolve. Intelligraphics has expertise and can provide software development support for many technologies related to digital imaging.
USB/1394
Intelligraphics is closely familiar with both USB and IEEE 1394 and can provide hardware manufacturers with driver solutions for each. Our team has worked with manufacturers on a variety of USB 1.1 driver projects. Our research and development staff is intimately familiar with development of the new USB 2.0 specification and fully capable of providing top quality software support upon its immediate release. Intelligraphics has completed development projects to support 1394-related devices and can provide driver solutions as 1394 hardware emerges in the marketplace.
WIA and Twain
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) is both an API and a device driver interface (DDI) for Windows Millennium (Me) and future versions of Windows operating systems. Intelligraphics can leverage its deep experience in TWAIN development to create either TWAIN or WIA compliant APIs for image acquisition hardware including scanners, digital cameras, 1394-based digital video camcorders and USB-based web cams.
